How we design
Every journey begins with a brief. We work from the traveler outward — nothing appears in a proposal that has not been walked by the person designing it.
About Wonders of Chile
What would the operator look like if it were built by someone who had spent those years in the field? This is that operator.
Why this exists
For over seven years, I guided for other operators in Chile — for boutique outfits, for luxury hotels, for adventure companies, including Hotel Tierra Atacama. I learned the country in the way a guide learns it: by walking it, by failing at it, by coming back the next season and walking it differently.
I watched the operators I worked for design itineraries from desks. I watched what worked in the field and what didn’t. The operators I worked for are good. Several are excellent. But over those years, I came to believe something simple: the work of designing and operating a journey through Chile is best done by someone who has been there — someone who has personally walked the cellars, the cordillera trails, the cerros, the coastal coves, the kitchens.
I founded Wonders of Chile to do that work the way I believed it should be done. Not because the existing operators are wrong — because there is room for an operator built differently, from the field outward, with the operational care that seven years of being a guide for other people taught me to take seriously.
That is what Wonders of Chile is. That is what this site describes.

The founder
Born in Santiago and trained as an environmental engineer, Cristian spent his first years writing sustainability reports for renewable-energy projects across Chile. Guiding started as weekend work in the Andes in 2019. Within two years it had become the primary work; within three, a vocation.
Between 2019 and 2026 he guided across Chile and into the borderlands of Bolivia and Peru for some of the country’s most exacting operators — boutique adventure companies, premium tour operators, and luxury hotels including Hotel Tierra Atacama. He has personally guided over ten thousand travelers in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
English, Spanish, Portuguese — operated natively. Italian, currently in study.
“He is the operator who answers his own emails.”
Every journey begins with a brief. We work from the traveler outward — nothing appears in a proposal that has not been walked by the person designing it.
A black book, not a directory. The network is a competitive asset, built around individual matches rather than standard packages. The match is the work.
Engineering, not marketing. We measure what we describe, and we describe only what we measure — documented supplier criteria, real footprint tracking, no staged experiences.
What we believe
Walked, not templated.
The match is the work.
Refinement is not friction.
Confidentiality is the baseline.
We are not for everyone.
